This year the MAFC Senior Squad is comprised of 40 players from last years Under 16s, Under 17s, and the remaining Rising Stars. The Senior Squad will field two Under 18 teams - the Emerging Stars and the Rising Stars.
These boys have trained together since the beginning of the year, which has seen three teams merge to become a close group both on and off the field. This is a credit to our Senior Squads coaching team, Steve Mahar, Ray Jack, Guy Cannon, Steve Miller and Eamon Darragh; and the Squads manager Kelly Davis who showing genuine care for the boys, wrangled these 40 players to size Guernsey’s, organise pre-season training and squad events, and provide clear communication for parents.
With an “All In” attitude, these boys have trained hard, run Mt Ainslie and even worked together to learn some history at the War Memorial. The boys have traveled to Wagga for the annual game against Mater Dei (coming back with a win) and had some fun (followed by serious competitive football) during the Blue and Blue cup intraclub match.
The Emerging Stars season will commence on Sunday 28th April with their home ground at Lindwall Oval. The Rising Stars home ground will be Greenway Enclosed Oval for their Friday night games with the opportunity to play a couple of Sunday games at Lindwall. The Rising Stars season commences this Friday 17th April.
Congratulations to the Senior Squad and Rising Stars Captain Angus 'Gussy' Miller, and Vice-Captain Jacob 'Yacob' Scholtens.
