Club Perpetual Awards


The below five awards are now open to the MAFC community for nominations. Criteria is outlined below, and nominations are to be emailed to vicepresident@mafc.com.au by Wednesday 28th August 2024.


Junior Clubman of the Year

Senior Clubman of the Year

Sirr-Woods Volunteer of the Year

Damien McMahon Coach of the Year

Life Member

 


Junior Clubman of the Year Awarded to an under 12 or under 13 player who meets the following criteria:

  • shown a commitment to the College and to Australian Football

  • shown good sportsmanship, both on and off the ground

  • exhibited good leadership

  • shown exemplary behaviour at all times and adheres to the MAFC Code of Conduct

  • shown commitment and effort at training, and

  • been reliable and has always come prepared to play as a team player on game day.

Senior Clubman of the Year Awarded to a Year 11 or 12 player who meets the following criteria:

  • shown a commitment to the College and to Australian Football

  • served as a role model for peers and junior players, both on and off the ground

  • exhibited good leadership skills

  • shown loyalty to the Club and a willingness to help out

  • demonstrates the Club’s Values and adheres to the MAFC Code of Conduct

  • usually have served 5 or more years with the Club.

Sirr-Woods MAFC Volunteer of the Year Awarded for outstanding effort and achievement as a club volunteer that meets the following criteria:

  • involvement in the grass roots level of the Club

  • dedication and service consistently throughout the year

  • direct involvement week-to-week

  • demonstrates the Club’s Values and adheres to the MAFC Code of Conduct

Created in 2010 in honour of over 50 years combined service of the Sirr and Woods Families to MAFC

Damian McMahon Coach of the Year Awarded to a team coach for significant contribution, development and service to players and the Club that meets the following criteria:

  • displays strength of character in the coaching role

  • fosters enthusiasm for, interest in, and an excellent attitude towards participation in football

  • promotes healthy mental and physical development of players

  • develops player potential and team skills

  • demonstrates and instills the Club’s and College Values including sportsmanship, dedication and participation, and adheres to the MAFC Code of Conduct

Named in honour of Damian McMahon recognising the values he instilled and skills he developed in MAFC players over many years.

Life Membership Awarded to a MAFC community member that meets a combination of the below criteria:

  • Held a volunteer role with a team, i.e. Coach, Team Manager, Trainer, Runner continuously for a minimum of 5 years

  • Served the club in an honorary capacity for minimum of five years

  • Served the club in an honorary capacity when their child/(ren) have left Marist;

  • Been a major sponsor of the club for or been the Principal of a major sponsor for 10 years;

AND / OR

  • made an outstanding contribution to the club, providing great value through their exceptional service.

Life Membership nominations are sought every year but not necessary awarded.
